Charles Constant Gruet Besançon 30J Pocket Watch Deadbeat Independent Second 1850 Description: In excellent quality manufactured gold case pocket watch with independent dead beat second from France around 1850-60. The movement is signed “C. Gruet Besançon” under the Dail. Gruet was born 1821 in morteau that is about 4 miles away from La Chaux-de-Fonds. His Workshop was foundet Besançon and driven as an family buissines. Masive 18K gold case, back with double lid and engraved monogram. Glass in very good condition. Enamel dial with Roman hour and Arabic minute. Dial in very nice condition, undamaged. Three hands. Central running second, blued hand. Minute and hour hands with mounted stones. Magnificent gilt movement with 30 rubys. Blued screws, visible jewels. Two barrels, one for minutes and hours, a second for the independently second. Bimetallic compensation balance with weights bolted. Lever escapement with visible stone and counterweights in hammer shape. The clean watch is running correctly. Watch diameter 48mm, weight 83g. The watch is in excellent condition and fully functional.
