This is a wonderful antique tin pencil box from the 1920's and it has Charlie Chaplin painted on the lid by Henry Clive, and is signed. Henry Clive did many famous paintings of the Ziegfield Follies girls, and movie stars and had many magazine covers and also did tins for the Beautebox Canco Co. located in New York City. He also was the Art Director for Charlie Chaplin Productions and that is most likely why this particular tin was made. They were made in round and oval tins, and also pencil and lunch boxes. This is a pencil box measuring 2" across and 7 3/4" long and the hinges work and the construction is still in good condition, but t is some wear on the surface, although I think the portrait of Chaplin is in great condition considering this is probably at least 80 years old. Please email me with any questions. Buyer pays actual shipping (no handling fees). Good luck and thank you for visiting my auction.
