The initial offer was accepted but fell through at the last minute. This particular jersey was produced by the kitman instantly as they were to unveil Rooney in a couple of days at the next home match. Jack Dearman was given the number 28 when he signed on loan. As we know this jersey was worn and used by the club so the squad could sign it.
