Please note, this specimen will ship from the UK To find out more about chelyabinsk please see: http://www./meteor/metbull.php?code=57165 As this slice was taken from a nearly complete individual with fresh crust I cut it thicker than I normally would so that the edges could retain the fusion crust. when it comes to chelyabinsk it doesn't get any better than this! 17 by 11mm Ground flat and polished to a 2500 grit finish the other side is as cut to best show off the tiny trails of vesicles in the melt. Will ship in a 38mm membrane box. Some information about my offerings: First off, Yes. I am happy to combine shipping. I normally use USPS or Royal Mail depending on where an item ships from, but I am happy to use a different carrier at your request if I can. A small flat rate mailer can normally hold half a dozen thumbnail specimens, a medium mailer will hold many more than that. There is no up charge for combined shipping unless a medium box is needed instead of a small one. My $0.01 to start, no reserve auctions normally are shipped by a friend in the states. Her husband is in the military and she doesnt always call the same state home, so please contact me before returning any item to ensure it gets sent where it needs to be, so as to be promptly received. All my listings are shipped in either in a labeled riker mount or 38mm membrane box. I use the utmost care in prepping specimens, and offer slices with very high surface to weight ratios, so I sell by the slice, never by the gram. Please don't ask the weight of any specimen offered, I don't bother to weigh specimens before readying them to ship. I realize this is against the norms of the industry, but I have found this listing style to work best for me. Please keep in mind that for my thumbnail offerings I have cut over 100 different localities, with more than half a dozen different planetary specimens, several important new falls, many rare classifications, several important historic named finds, no less than 3 different CM2s and even 2 different finds associated with Native American burial sites. All offered at $0.01 to start, no reserve listings. A lot of work went into prepping a nice variety of material to list, and by starting things for a penny, I'm already 2 dollars in the hole given the cost of the membrane box, so I'm obviously taking the gamble that the specimens will inspire you to bid. My way of selling on ebay may not be conventional but I think you will be happy with the results. Of the photos shown on a lined blue background, the heavy lines mark 1cm, the fine lines 1mm. Specimens are cut to a thickness appropriate to the material in question. A well consolidated, hard type three might be under 0.5mm in thickness, where as a fragile pallasite might be 2mm thick. As a general rule of thumb I cut material no thinner than needed to allow sufficient strength for me to polish both sides. If I can do this without damage there should be no problem handling the specimen. Some specimens are not polished, typically this applies to type threes and some carbonaceous chondrites that look better right off the saw as opposed to polished. England is not known to be the dryest of locales, so if any particular specimen isnt known to be stable I typically take all precautions possible such as electrolytic treatment, fine polishing and etching for irons, regardless of need.
