Children's Occupations is Volume II in The Kindergarten Children's Hour series in 5 volumes edited by Lucy Wheelock. The author of this volume is Maude Cushing Nash. It was published in 1920. From the Introduction: "It is the purpose of this book to open the eyes of parents to a realization that through play a child may be led to desire knowledge. There are hundreds of ways in which the play of children may be regulated so that they will develop the creative instinct. I have endeavored to explain in detail a large variety of occupations for little hands." Programs for a neighborhood group are arranged by seasons. This is NOT a book about jobs for children as the title may be misinterpreted to read. :-) The Contents include 17 chapters with titles such as "The Little Artist," "Toy-Town Villages," "Games," and "Use of Nature Materials." The individual stories within these sections are accentuated with numerous illustrations in both color and black and white. See photos The hardcover is deep red boards. The front cover features a color illustration (see photo). The title and spine printing are clear and legible. The boards have minute bumpings on the corners.
