"Hot Lunch" is a limited edition sericel by Walter Lantz (1899-1994), depicting one of his most beloved characters, Chilly Willy. This piece features Walter Lantz's sericel signature and includes a Certificate of Authenticity! Measures approx. 10.5" x 12.5" (sericel and background).Born 27 April 1899 in New Rochelle, New York to an Italian immigrant couple, Walter Lantz was proved to have natural artistic talent a very young age: by the time he was twelve years old, he had completed a mail-order drawing class. Although he was compelled to work as an auto mechanic in his teens, this proved to be a boon to his career: a wealthy customer saw Lantz’s drawings on the bulletin board at the auto shop and eventually paid for the boy to study at the Art Students’ League in New York City.
