Chinese Jian broadsword/Tai Chi Sword - Black A classic weapon of Tai Chi, the Jian has a long and honored history in Chinese martial arts, having been used in China for at least the last 2,500 years. It was considered the sword for the more skilled user, as opposed to the more brutish Dao, or saber. It is frequently also the sword used by the heroes in Chinese martial arts films, including the recent Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'. This version is an elegant yet potentially deadly weapon, its blade a full 28 and ½ inches long, with a width of 1 and ¼ inches and an overall length of 36 and one half inches. Its full tang is attached to the openwork pommel, and the graceful curves of the 3 and ½ inch openwork guard are both functional and decorative.
