DescriptionA Fine Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Granary Jar. This porcelain model of a covered jar in the form of a storehouse (granary) was most likely made at one of the kilns in Fujian province. The wide cover has been made in the form of a tiled roof, the jar with vertical ridges, representing the wall of the granary. The cover, the outer wall and inner mouth of the jar are coated in an attractive finely-crackled translucent greenish-blue Qingbai glaze. Height 11.5 cm, diameter 12.5 cm. It is in fine condition with no restoration or repair. Song Dynasty (AD) or Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368).For Reference: Two very similar examples are illustrated and described in the 2002 Percival David Foundation book, "Qingbai Ware: Chinese Porcelain of the Song and Yuan Dynasties".Provenance: from the collection of the late Brian Page (1938-2018), the well-known Oriental art and antiques dealer from Brighton.
