Nice red earthenware figure of an official from Tang Dynasty (7th-10th C) in China. Near identical figures in Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Head re-applied as with most of these (incluing the V and A examples). Accretions. features worn. Beautiful 'tomb smell' when water applied. Possibly layer of perservative applied to surface. Acquired in 2000-2005 from dealer in Asian art in New York. 210mm Height, 50mm max Width Reserve as with all my items is many times below prices in some Asian antique shops/web sites.
