CIGAR CUTTER Piper Heidsieck Water Pump Match Holder ***Brass and Cast Iron*** Standing about 7 1/2" tall, this cigar cutter invites the reader to "Smoke Piper Heidsieck Cigars". Designed like a water pump, the operator lifts the pump hand that activates a blade in the shaft to nip the end of a cigar. Although t is a hole for "water" to fill the bucket standing beside the pump, the cigar tip actually falls under the base of the cutter. T are martini glasses embossed on either side of the base. The back of the base is raised to look like a rock wall or boulder pile. The base is cast iron with a screw-on face plate. The bucket is riveted to the base. The foundation and top of the pump are also cast iron. I believe the square pump shaft is copper while the handle assembly is brass. Both show good age patina, the handle showing the most. All of the cast iron is painted black. I find no damage to this piece of great advertising. Intended as a store counter display, it does not appear to have had much, if any, retail action. It is in great condition!
