Larger circa 1925 china with hand paint under glaze chauffeur or motoring humidor made in Germany. This one has mold mark 9528 incised on bottom a and then 13 painted on under glaze. He has English motoring wear of the period. Stands 5 3/4" tall. In very nice condition with the following small problems, hairline crack from opening thru ear to neck on left side with a chip on the ear w the line runs thru. The crack does not show thru into inside. Also, has a small flake on right side of hats brim near the cap portion and a couple of small flakes on underside of the caps brim. Inside opening is 3 3/8" x 3 7/8" and has a hole in the inside of hat to place damp sponge to keep humidity level up. Also inside the opening written in pencil twice is 12-25-12. That would indicate to me 1912 but I am saying circa 1925 from info in the book "The Motor Car In Art". Some staining inside from storage of tobacco. Outside is bright and clean. A fine piece of automobilia and I am listing some others so please consider combining to save on shipping. Last photo shows the 3 variations of motoring humidors I am listing but t is just one in this auction. I am listing some other early automobilia in different catagories. Some bidders are not seeing all the photos. I use my own photo service so they are larger and shown below. Please scroll all the way down. read more
