Julius Winfield Erving II, better known as "Dr. J" for his signature "slam" dunks, won three championships, four Most Valuable Player awards, and three scoring titles with the ABA's Virginia Squires and New York Nets and the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. In the 76ers' 1982-83 season, Erving and Moses Malone became one of the most formidable and unstoppable center-forward combinations of all time as the Sixers dominated the whole season and eventually claimed the 1983 NBA title by sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers. "Dr. J" was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993 and was also named to the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. Offered here is an incredibly rare red knit mesh Wilson Philadelphia 76ers road jersey that was worn by Dr. J circa 1979 where the Sixers were perennial title contenders. This size 42 jersey features "SIXERS" and his famous number "6" sewn on across the front in white and blue tackle twill. The collar and sleeve openings have a ribbed red, white and blue pattern.
