This is a Civil War Period Folding Camp Chair very similar to General Grant's. This has the bentwood arms that fold under when not in use. This chair is in fantastic condition as far as the wood is concerned. It looks as fresh as the day it was made. The only issue is that the original carpet seat is gone. The next owner will have to find either a piece of carpet or a heavy white sail cloth. Either would be correct for this chair. I have included a copy of the photo of General Grant standing next to his chair. You will be able to see the similarities.
