William R. Shafter, Lt. Col. of the 19th Michigan Infantry, Colonel of the 17th U.S.C.T. and Brevet Brigadier General in the Civil War. Shafter received the Medal of Honor for his actions at the battle of Fair Oaks as a Lieutenant with the 7th Michigan. He served as a Major General in the Spanish-American War. Civil War-date Document Signed as Colonel of the 17th U.S.C.T., an Invoice of Ordnance and Ordnance Stores listing weapons and ammunition turned over by Shafter at Nashville, Tennessee on 28 February 1865. Shafter boldly signs at bottom. In very good condition, toning esp. at the folds.
