Civil War CDV of John M. Schofield, a medal of honor winner for his actions at Wilson's Creek Missouri while a member of the 1st Missouri Infantry.. Schofield rose in rank eventually becoming a major general. In 1873 Schofield ws given the task to investigate the strategic potential of a United States presence in the Hawaiian Islands. Schofield's report recommended that the United States establish a naval port at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Schofield Barracks at Pearl Harbor is named in his honor. Identified in ink on the front "John M. Schofield". Backmark by E.& H.T. Anthony , Broadway New York. very good - excellent.
