Description Included with this auction is a CDV of UNION Soldier "JOHN S. CORLIS" and his wife. John enlisted on 09/03/1861 at Bowne, MI as a Corporal. He was mustered on 10/02/1861 into Company "D" of the MI 2nd Cavalry". The CDV has John proudly wearing the "XX Corps Badge of the 1st DIVISION of the ARMY OF THE CUMBERLAND" on his chest (See Scan). John received several promotions during his service. He was promoted to Sergt/1st Sergt/1st lieut/and Quartermaster. On the back of the CDV, t is a period pencil identification. John residence during the war was GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN. The back has the Photographer's backmark of PHOTOGRAPHED BY, Q.W.HORTON, MONROE ST. GRAND RAPIDS, MICH". CDV has light edge & corner wear.
