Booth, The Assassin. -JOHN WILKES BOOTH-Actor, Murderer.Brother of famous actor Edwin Booth and well-known ladies man, J.W. Booth was a Confederate sympathizer who shot President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theater the night of April 14, 1865 at the end of the Civil War. Lincoln died the next day. This photograph by Case & Getchell is designated #28 in John Wilkes Booth Himself , Gutman, 1979; he dates it late 1862 or early 1863.
