Civil War Era Model 1840 "Wristbreaker" Cavalry Sword with Scabbard This is a Model 1840 "wristbreaker" calvary sword. It is an imported German manufactured sword and they were used by both sides during the Civil War. This particular sword was purchased in Florida so may have been used by the Confederates. The only marking on this sword is what appears to be a badger on the ricasso. The blade has pitting and discoloration due to its age but is not rusted and the grip has the original leather and twisted wire covering. The leather has several scuff marks. The scabbard has two rings. The length of the sword with the scabbard is 42.5", the blade is 35", and the width at the ricasso is 1". The picture of the badger did not come out as well as I had hoped but you can clearly see the marking t Please email with any questions
