An awesome item for any Civil War history buff or aficianado of the period, this is the boxed set of playing cards commemorating The American Civil War, on the occasion of its Centennial: 1861/1865------1961/1965. The colors are rich and beautitul with the cards designed by Teodoro N. Miciano. The kings, queens and jacks represent the outstanding men involved in the War Between The States; the aces depict a few of the significant battles; the fours are embellished with guns and the Monitor and the Meramec. The suits of spades and diamonds are devoted to the Union with those of the clubs and hearts belonging to the Confederacy. The blue background cards have never been opened, with an intact plastic seal. The red background cards have been opened and are in pristine condition: no creases or evident wear. It does not appear they have ever been shuffled. Gold piping is at each of the four corners of each card. A booklet, describing a few of the individuals and battle sites, is original to the set and included. Measuring 3 1/2 inches X 5 inches, the 16 page booklet has a map of the United States, from 1861-1865, depicting the Northern and Southern parts of the country during that time, as its center spread. The original box does show some signs of wear along the edges and at each corner. Paired with the gorgeously illustrated book, read more
