Original green cloth, stamped gilt lettering, index, 455 pp, illustrated with 3 plates (the Monument, Abraham Lincoln, and a man only identified by an illegible printed signature) Hardcover, good+. Corners bumped with a bit of cardboard exposed t and at spots along edges of boards, cloth scuffed with some of the top layer of ink rubbed off, approximately 1/4 inch fraying at head and foot of spine. Internally, front hinge starting to crack, paper lightly age yellowed, foxing on tissue guards and on and adjacent to plates and sporadically elsew Interesting glimpse into the affect of the Civil War on a small Massachusetts town; consists of resolutions for the erection of the monument, text of the address by Solomon Lincoln at its dedication in 1870, proceedings of town and citizens and meetings from 1861 to 1865, including making of garment by the women of the town and the Battle of Bull Run, the draft and substitutes, unit histories of the Lincoln Light Infantry and the Thirty-Second Regiment, and lists and biographical sketches of the men who served, including length of time, battles, wounds (including amputations and other sad details) , list of contributor, etc. NOTE: This has a special presentation page showing spread winged eagle and military flags and motifs., Says this is a token of appreciation and services of LIEUT.
