's an authentic Civil War period clay smoking pipe that was dug from a trash pit filled in during the 1860s. This pipe is completely intact with the full stem undamaged, which is hard to find. It still has heavy black tobacco residue in the bowl! It has beaded band around middle of bowl....5"long....white kaolin clay which is stained from being smoked and buried in the ground over 140 years.....EXCELLENT CONDITION with no chips, cracks or damage of any kind. It is exactly as it come out of the ground w it has layed since the Civil War time of the 1860s.
