Civil War Newspaper Repro VALLEY NEWS ECHO Hagerstown 1859-1865 collection This is a collection of newspaper reporoductions that were distributed 50 years ago by subscription. They are reproductions of the Valley News Echo Newspapers from 1859-1865. All of the commenerative issues are in this set. There are two special pre-war issues October 25, 1859 and December 1859 of the monthly paper. Then monthly from April 1861 through April 1865 (51 issues). I have seen the reproduction spiral book of these papers being sold, but not the single copies that you can hold like a newspaper. Each 4 page issue is printed on heavy paper (not news print paper) so they are not fragile. The dimensions of the sheet (open) are 15 1/4" x 22 1/2". The single page is therefore 15 1/4" x 11 1/4". You can see in the pictures that the folds are crisp and intact. I personally collected these 50 years ago, one month at a time. The details of the local history are stunning and will not be found in this form elsewhere. The local advertisers are also good. See coffee ad by A.H.
