Vintage Civil War (North) whiskey flask. Illustrated in 2 publications: Francis Lord's CIVIL WAR COLLECTOR'S ENCYCLOPEDIA VOL. 2, Page 102 and COWBOY COLLECTIBLES AND WESTERN MEMORABILA by Robert Ball, Page 121. The flask is in near mint condition considering it is close to 150 years old - possibly it was never issued as even the leather is near new. It is 7 1/2" tall, about 3 1/2" wide, 2" deep and holds about 11 fluid ounces. It has a screw-on pewter cap and a slip-on pewter bottom drinking cup. The bottom of the glass bottle is marked OLRY & CO. PHILADA. T are no other marks. In later versions the cap has an 1866 patent date (after the war, companies got busy patenting things). Flat rate shipping is $8.50; Ins. is buyer optional.
