SKIRMISHER'S DRILL AND BAYONET EXERCISE (As Now Used in the French Army). Richmond: West & Johnston, 1861. It has 56 pages; 25 figure illustrations. This is an original Confederate Manual by R. Milton Cary. It is 4.25 x 6.5 in. This booklet offers text instruction and illustrations on platoon deployment, advances, firings, and various drills for the training of bayonet troops. Translated from the French by Cary. Spots of gunpowder (can be seen in photos). Light water staining on inside, but this doesn't affect legibility. Gilt stamp on front still bright and detailed.
