Two Civil War patriotic covers, each with a different design mocking Confederate General Pierre G.T. Beauregard, depicting him as a boar.The first has a large blue illustration captioned "GENERAL BOAR-A-GUARD, On Duty", depicting a Boar in Uniform, saluting with his cloven hoof, and with a Confederate flag flying from his curly tail. Imprint of the New York Union Envelope Depot, 144 Broadway.The other has a red-brown illustration captioned "Boar-egard", depicting a boar standing in a field, chewing on leaves - a metamorphic design, which when turned vertically, is captioned "Beauregard 'turned up' ", which now appears as a rather fanciful depiction of Gen. Beauregard.Unused.Fine-Very Fine condition. There are small old mounting remnants on the back of the second cover.
