Offered is the two volume Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant , by Ulysses S. Grant. 1231pp. Charles L. Webster and Co., New York, 1885-1886. The set is part of the famous "shoulder strap" editions of Civil War memoirs. This work is considered "one of the most valuable writings by a military commander in history." It includes illustrations, maps, and a facsimile copy of the Appomattox surrender document. This is a mixed set. Volume one has some scuffing on the front cover. Volume two is in slightly better condition. Both volumes are complete and in good condition. The front page in volume one includes the name a previous owner. A good addition for any Civil War library of one of the most important books of the 1861-65 era.
