Original, aged condition. Measures approx. 12"x 7 3/4". Very faded and foxed. The letter is glued onto piece of old paper board and will not fold. This was done a very long time ago. Very interesting Recruitment letter dated July 6 1863, a couple days after end of battle of Gettysburg. Talks about raising a Company of enlisted men for defense of Pennsylvania and its property as the enemy is at the door. I think says citizens of Butler Township and Millenbing? in Berks Co. Writing hard to read, you look at the pictures to try and decide for yourself what is says. Fresh to the market. Signed by a Capt. G or J D STeel, Recruiting Officer. Also says recruiting will take place at Jacob Frhomm??? and another place I cant make out. Again glued onto board so sold as pictured as is. Guranteed original. Has loss to bottom left hand corner.
