Model 1840 P.D.L. Enlisted Cavalry Saber is unique in that the hilt was made by P.D. Luneschloss (P.D.L.) of Solingen, which was standard for many Tiffany sabers. (See "Civil War Cavalry & Artillery Sabers" by John H. Thillmann ..pp.418-419). The hilt has an iron guard and pommel cap, large tang mound on pommel, flat sharp brim, and pointed quillon. The grip is wood, leather covered with two-strand wire wrap. The blade is excellent with no nicks or pitting and measures 35 inches in length. No scabbard.
