Civil War, Union officer's (commissioned or NCO) cast brass cavalry spur.I have owned this since 1963 at which time I purchased it from a relic dealer in Strasburg, VA whotold me that a local had dug it at the Fisher's Hill Battlefield (Early vs. Sheridan, 1862)It is in fantastic shape, even the rowel moves. It is in scary good shape, but I don't think anyone wasmaking repo's in 1963 and selling them to local antique shops in rural VA. I am an old relic hunterand have never seen another one.
