4870 Private George Saunderson 1st Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers (KOSB) Queens South Africa Medal with Clasps ‘Cape Colony’, ‘Orange Free State’, ‘Transvaal’ & ‘South Africa 1901’ On 31 st May 1894 at the age of 19 Years George Saunderson enlisted in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was born in Chinwell, Yorkshire. His occupation was listed as Collier. His next of kin is listed as his Father, George Saunderson, Albert Road, Morley, Leeds, Yorkshire. He was posted to the 1 st Battalion KOSB on 31 st May 1894. He served in the East Indies from 13 November 1895 until 4 th May 1901 and in South Africa from 22 nd July 1901 until 22 nd December 1901. He was awarded his Mounted Infantry Certificate on 10 th September 1898. He was discharged as medically unfit for further service and discharged on 20 th June 1902. Also entitled to the India medal 1895 with Clasps ‘Punjab Frontier 1897-1898’ & ‘Tirah 1897-1898’ Comes with 8 pages of copied Service Papers, QSA Roll extract & India Medal Roll extract which will be e-mailed to the winner of the auction.
