1884-O SILVER DOLLAR VF with Light Tone - A "Classic" NO RESERVE An average coin in an average date. No other way to put it. But it's the backbone of the Morgan business. Any type of collector can still, after all these decades, build a set of these increasingly popular coins in a majority of dates in the series just like this one. Yes, there are some dates where one like this will cost many hundreds or even thousands of dollars. But they're the exception and it's due to the fact demand far exceeds supply in those dates. Morgans continue to rise in popularity due to their undervalued silver content AND the fact common-grade/common-date coins are still relatively widespread in terms of availability and affordability. It won't be that way forever, though. That's why I'm constantly urging collectors to acquire as many as your coin budget allows. Every one of these silver dollars is an investment in both the metal and the history our great country. This coin was clearly used for quite some time as our nation's primary vehicle for trade and commerce. It's nicely preserved. It developed a classic toned color due to the copper content, but not overly toned. Importantly, it's an original. Never cleaned or polished, no stains or spots and right at the norm in terms of what's available. Problem free and the ideal coin for an album or read more
