Exceptional version of the classic Double Irish Chain quilt pattern in the simple color combination of red and white.I would estimate the vintage as 1920s - 1930s - but it could be earlier. The size is 83 x 76 inches.Hand quilted with a meticulous average of 8 SPI.Cotton fabrics. Solid red and solid off-white or cream. This is a light weight quilt. If there is any batting it is very thin. The backing fabric is turned forward and machine stitched to form the very narrow binding.Nice thick red border. In terms of condition, the quilt is strong and in very good condition. There are no tears or holes. There are some small, light spots on the backing and also a few on front. There are a few loose stitches but no seam separation that I've seen. There is some light fading to the red fabric. I also saw one tiny mended area.In one corner on the backing it appears that at one point someone wrote something in ink. The letters or numbers are tiny and faded.
