In many people’s opinion, still the finest 7x42 binocular. A wonderfully sharp, bright, relaxed wide angle view. In side by side comparison with my FL 7x42 there’s nothing to choose between them in brightness or resolution. The newer binocular is waterproof and has superior close focus, but many prefer the look and handling of the classic Dialyt. This example is in lovely condition: not mint, but obviously well looked after. The view is as clear and sharp as the day it left the factory. Focussing smooth and firm, with no slack spots or backlash. Very little cosmetic wear (slight paint rubbing on high spots of hinge – see photos). Crystal clear optics: coatings in very good condition apart from a small (3-4 mm) scratch on the right ocular which has no effect on the view. I’ve tried to photograph it but can’t get it to show. Collimation perfect. You’re unlikely to find a better one without paying top dollar for a totally mint example which you wouldn’t dare to use in the field! Just serviced by UK Zeiss, new eyecups fitted. Still under guarantee - the new owner doesn't need to do anything as the binocular is registered and the guarantee is transferable.
