-BEAUTIFUL- -MARANTZ 2220B- -MINTY CLEAN FACEPLATE- -SERVICED- -COMPLETELY RE-LAMPED- Up this time is a beautifully warm looking and sounding Marantz 2220B with a Extremely Clean Faceplate. The offset and idle current have been adjusted to specs. The voltage regulator has also been brought to specs. This 2220B is on of the nicest we have seen in a while. The "B" variant included Dolby. All lamps have been replaced and new vellum installed for that bright look that will remain bright for years to come. We also polished the glass with Novus systems. You will see quite a few folks on eBay and AK talking about completely re-caping these vintage units- but it is a fact that it will change the sonics of these wonderful units. While on paper, it looks impressive to buyers to see new capacitors installed, many buyers are disappointed the unit arrives and they discover the receiver is completely deprived of warmth. Gone is the wonderful classic warm Marantz sound for which they had always dreamed of owning. To preserve the original Marantz sound, you must keep the original capacitors if they are within tolerance and show no sign of leakage. Installing any new capacitor into a vintage unit will change its intended sound, most often making it sound bright which is not what a buyer of vintage Marantz is hoping to hear. Don’t let anyone fool you- ANY new component can change the sonic signature of a vintage unit. Seeking out NOS capacitors and resistors and testing them for tolerance is costly. Instead, they use what is available off the shelf, all to the detriment of the sound. There are units that have been refurbished properly- they are VERY costly. The next best thing is finding a unit that has its capacitors within tolerance as this unit does. It is by far safer and much better sounding to leave the unit as original as possible rather than mess with it. This unit retains the Marantz sound that all buyers are seeking. Unless otherwise indicated, all items are sold AS-IS.
