This is a very lightly used Clifton #3 smoothing plane. The Clifton line of planes are descendants of the highly regarded Preston planes. The original Preston company's designs were ultimately acquired by Clico Tooling, who produce the Clifton planes today. Clico Tooling, based in Sheffield, England, manufactures tooling for the aerospace industry.
