This clump of ancient Chinese coins is salvaged from a Song Dynasty (1127-1279 AD) shipwreck. The shipwreck is discovered under the deep water of South China Sea. The latest coin found in this hoard is Shao Xing Yuan Bao (1131-1162 AD). This evidence suggests that the ship sank during early era of Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1127 - 1279) There are about 6 pieces coins in various sizes fused with the sediment picked up from the seabed. It is a good reference for studying the ancient maritime archaeology history. Imagining that these coins have been traveled for 3000 km from a sea port in ancient China and finally rest on the seabed for more than 800 years!
