Coal fired, fire tube, vertical steam boiler , silver soldered to a very high standard (soldering looks professional). 25'' tall incl. chimney, 13'' from base of ashpan to top of pressure vessel. 5'' diameter with lagging, 4 5/8'' approx. without. Pressure vessel about 8'' tall. Presently lagged with ceramic fibre clad in brass sheet, but one photo shows it in use in my steam canoe when it had wood lagging. Comes complete with all necessary fittings except a water pump. Has a steam blower, two safety valves, blow down valve, two clacks, and spare steam outlet for attatching a whistle or injector. Firing set and flu brush included. Boiler originally came with an open firebox front and no ash pan, both of which I have added myself. The great advantage of the removable firebox front is that the grate can be removed and the ashpan cleaned without having to lift the boiler, which can therefore be permanently fixed. It also would enable a gas or spirit burner to be inserted as an alternative to coal, although the boiler performs beautifully on Welsh steam coal grains. In my steam canoe it pwered a Brunell Cunardia twin cylinder engine at up to 70 psi but the boiler has been taken to higher pressures.
