Up for auction is a beautiful cobalt blue Holy Water bottle. It is embossed with an image of the Jasna GoraMonestary and the famous Black Madonna. The Jasna Góra Monastery in CzÄstochowa, Poland, is a famous Polish shrine to the Virgin Mary and one of the country's places of pilgrimage. The image of the Black Madonna of CzÄstochowa, also known as Our Lady of CzÄstochowa, to which miraculous powers are attributed, is one of Jasna Góra's most precious treasures. This blown bottle has an applaied handle and a broken pontil on the base. The base shows considerable honest wear, and I would date this bottle to around 1875-85.
