is a very beautiful Christmas plate, called Weihnachten 1970. It is in it's original box with an insert enclosed with it. this plate is celebrating Christmas Eve in the year 1818, when a costly jewel was laid at the feet of humanity. Every year it's heard around the world to announce to mankind the birth of the Saviour. Silent Night, Holy Night. (Stille Nacht, Heillige Nacht) The story of Silent Night is full of wonder, it needs no embellishment. Two plain men, the one with no sense a great master of music. the other surely no poet, and yet both in their single hour were given the grace to compose this immortal song of comfort. They were as poor as the shepherds in the pastures of Bethlehem; Gruber, a schoolmaster and son of a tradesman, Mohr indeed a priest but the poorest of families. This 1970 Christmas plate is dedicated to that song from Oberndorf and it is proudly presend the beautiful little chapel erected in honor of the composer. Franz X. Gruber and the writer Joseph Mohr. That is what this plate is about . It is of Bavaria made in Germany. T are no chips, crazing or cracks. t are 2 holes on the back side to put and wire in, to hang it. It is 8 inches across.
