ANTIQUE JAF KURD TRIBAL SADDLEBAG (Khorjin) FACE #6. Circa 1900. Size: 2'-0" x 2'-2" (61 x 66 cm). Found in long time storage from the estate of a collector. All wool in construction with rich and colorful spectrum of natural dyes derived from plant sources. Mostly overall medium-low pile condition with oxidation to the brown dye lot with some areas of the field down to the foundation, an indicator of more than 100 years of antique age. The top and bottom end guard borders are both slightly reduced. Both endings are sewn secure to prevent any future loss of structure. The side cords are original, but the over-castings have abraded away in areas. This large size, attractive, and boldly colored bag face comes just a bit dusty, but not dirty, from long time storage.
