This auction is for 2 rare pieces of signed vintage Van Briggle. Because of the long-time association of these two Master Van Briggle potters, I am selling these as a collection. These pieces have n o chips, no cracks, no damage. I am listing all my Van Briggle pieces, please see my other listings for more! The first piece is a Ming Blue Vase signed by Master Potter Clem Hull and dates from 1946-1947 when Clem signed his pieces with a "C". Begining in 1948 he signed them with a "CH". The second piece is a Moonglo pitcher vase signed "FW" by Fred Wills who befriended and studied under Clem Hull. This piece is also marked "original" which indicates it was hand-thrown, not cast. Some History: At age 21, in late 1946, Fred moved to Colorado Springs, where his Uncle Otis who worked at Van Briggle, helped him get a job where they needed help in the casting room. After coming to work at Van Briggle Fred met a Master potter Clem Hull who became his friend and mentor. Clem taught Fred to throw clay on a potter's wheel and a lifelong friendship developed. Fred continued to work at Van Briggle as he would do until the time of his retirement. His skills improved and he became one of Van Briggle's leading potters of the time. After Clem's death in 1965, Fred was the premier potter at Van Briggle. As his proficiency grew, Fred would experiment
