A watercolor depicting ruins of a gold rush era Colorado ghost town, I believe that the town is Nevadaville, by Edwin von Bartheld (also known as Ed Bartheld). Edwin von Bartheld (1922 -2014) was a Colorado artist who lived in the ghost town Turret, Colorado. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute and his watercolors were featured in Ford Times. This is a small work, size with mat board 10 1/8" x 8 1/4", sight size 7" x 5". Condition is very good with light wear to the work, the paper has a light indentation from the tab of kraft paper on the backside coming through to the front, the matting is yellowed and has bumped corners and staining, staining on back of work. This appears to be an earlier work c. midcentury. Please check out my other auctions for two more works by Edwin von Bartheld.
