Original antique colour book plate portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Victoria of Wales and Her Royal Highness Princess Charles of Denmark . Princess Victoria of Wales was the eldest daughter of King Edward VII. Princess Charles of Denmark was the third daughter of King Edward VII. (in 1896 she married Prince Charles (Carl) of Denmark, she became Queen Maud of Norway when her husband was offered the Swedish Throne as King Haakon VII., in 1906 ) Published by George Newnes & Co., London, 1901. Published in 12 fortnightly parts in green card wraps few collections survive. A stunning portrait of Princess Victoria of Wales and Princess Charles of Denmark. The portraits (with detailed biographical notes on the reverse by Rudolf de Cordova) are printed on high quality stock and measure 26 cms x 35 cms ( 10 inches x 14 inches) with wide white margins all round and is in excellent condition. A very attractive historic colour book plate which will appeal to those with an interest in British history and the British, Danish and Norwegian Royal Families as well as to the collector of decorative prints. The plate will look superb mounted and framed. The book plate is too large for my scanner and the wide white margins have been cropped on the image provided.
