COMPLETE ANTIQUE YOMUD TURKOMAN 9-GUL CHUVAL, Central Asian Tribal, Turkmenistan, circa 1900, and coming in excellent overall condition for the collector. All natural dyes with a lovely shade of aubergine for the ground color. Everything is original on the chuval including the side cord over-castings, the natural ivory wool plain-weave backing (see photo 12), and the top end closure devices (see photo 6). The pile is in excellent overall condition throughout (see photo 10), showing only a couple of small moth bites and a few areas of slightly lower, but not worn, pile from past ethnographic age use. This old weaving was recently found in long time storage and comes a bit dusty, but not dirty. A professional hand cleaning is recommended to give this lovely chuval a softer handle and to make the palette brighter read more
