Stuttgart is one of Germany's most historic, picturesque and colorful cities, so it's no surprise that these 1921 Notgeld (Hard Times Currency) bank notes issued by the City of Suttgart are just as historic, picturesque and colorful....not to mention RARE! is your chance to acquire a seldomly offered COMPLETE Set of 4 different Stuttgart bills in UNCIRCULATED condition at one rockbottom price. The notes have beautifully engraved sepia tone city views on the back, while the famous Rearing Stallion appears on the ornate front with a City Seal in the lower left corner, which is a different color on each note. The front of the notes also has a underprinted scene of the great German poet Schiller, a native son of Stuttgart, orating! An excerpt of his poem celebrating the City's freedom appears at the upper left. Scenes on the notes include: General view of the City with the Castle at the center, the Koenigstor (King's Gate), a closer view of the Old Castle and the Stiftskirche (cathedral), and the Wilhelmsbruecke (Wilhelm Bridge, named after the German Kaiser Wilhelm). Every note is in choice crisp clean condition. T may be an occasional very light trace of handling but absolutely no folds, splits, tears, holes, pen marks or other distractions.
