Rare Complete Set, Staffa Scotland 23k Gold Stamps
of the US 13 Original Colonies
A Great Investment
Staffa Scotland 23k Gold Stamps of the US 13 Original Colonies.
Photos shown here are only a few of the 13 gold stamps in this album.
This collection is a limited edition by Calhoun's Collectors Society,
only 20000 were made and of those made only a fraction are left as complete sets.
Most of what you find of these are broken sets or found as individual items,
yet here is a rare collection of the complete set with the certificate of authenticity.
Each stamp is made from a thin sheet of 23 karat gold with gummed backing,
and each are enclosed in protective sheets and easily removed for examination.
Also on the back side of these protective sheets are detailed descriptions of these
Colonial Seals giving history of each.
Set number one is in the permanent collection of the Division of Postal History
of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. issued in 1974 to commemorate
the forthcoming American Bicentennial (1776-1976).
This particular collection is set number 19296 of the 20000 originally issued.
And this book contains Thirteen Official Seals depicting those of
the Original American Colonies which are exquisitely engraved on gold foil
with fine detail and namely are:
Massachusetts Bay, Connecticut, Georgia, Delaware, Pennsylvania,
North Carolina, New York, Virginia, New Hampshire, South Carolina,
Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island.
The stamps were minted by hand with dies made from designs taken from
the metal and/or impressions of the actual seals themselves.
Furthermore these were designed and manufactured by or for a British company
called the London and New York Stamp Company, Limited (L&NYS),
under an agreement with the owner of the island of Staffa.
Staffa is a small island in the Inner Hebrides near the island of Mull
and the west coast of Scotland.
These stamps were marketed in the United States under an exclusive sales agency
agreement between L&NYS and respondent.
The Calhoun's Collectors Society offers are likely to continue to increase many times in value
over the original investment cost.
A nice collection and of sound quality.
