3 Confederate Civil War Veterans Letters - Franklin County, VA1. Andrew P. Wade who began as a private and rose to sergeant and enlisted at Sydnorsville, VA and wounded at Malvern Hill in July 1862, wrote a letter of love to Miss Mary Jane Warren, who lived near Sontag, professing his love and saying how he was looking for her. He writes "I am your friend and will be your lover if it is desired on your part..." Wade's letter is dated June 4, 1856. In 1858, Wade married Mary Martin, who applied for a pension. Wade died in 1876 in Franklin County. 2. Benjamin B. Webb, who mustered in May 23, 1861and served as Corporal then Sergeant Major in the Infantry captured April 2, 1865, died in 1905 at the Confederate Soldier's Home in Richmond about 1879, he and several others went to Richmond to support Tom Claiborne for judge and he signed a letter on Ford Hotel letterhead supporting Claiborne for Judge. 3. Abram F. Holland, who enlisted July 13, 1861, at Sydnorsville and was a Sergeant then Lieutenant and was paroled at Appomattox on April 9, 1865 and died in 1916.
