Alfred E. Jackson (d. 1889) was a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. First serving as Zollicoffer's quartermaster and under Kirby Smith in Tennessee, he was appointed Brigadier General in 1863, Under Donelson in Eastern Tennessee he commanded a brigade against Union raiders and fought at Greenville, Tennessee. He left the service in November 1864. This is a scarce war date document, signed by Jackson in pencil as commanding officer. 10.5 x 9 inches. A provision return for bacon, meal, rice and salt, dated May 9 to 12, 1864, signed also by F. Henderson of Jackson's Brigade. Fine condition.
