Measuring about 7¾" x 10¾", and running from page 49 to 96 (including the cover), this is the February, 1900, issue (Volume 8, No. 2) of the "Confederate Veteran" magazine, published in Nashville with the subtitle "Published Monthly in the Interest of Confederate Veterans and Kindred Topics." It contains obituaries, plus news of Civil War Confederate veterans' group activities, and new veterans' memorials and monuments, as well as the usual letters and reminiscences from veterans and other readers. Topics in this issue include the Seige of Spanish Fort, the Battle of Marshall, Missouri; fighting in Kentucky and Missouri; Mosby's men; the Washington Light Infantry of Charleston; prisoners of war; Brig. Gen. James T. Archer; Appomattox; escapes from Camp Morton; and an escape from New Orleans. The front cover pictures are of descendants of Jefferson Davis. It is in generally very good and readable condition, but the cover is totally split at the spine, and it has typical light surface rubbing and edge wear. Also, the binding staples are rusted just enough to have allowed the middle pages (71-74) to have separated. It is also an ex-library copy, with the stamp on the front cover of the University of Corpus Christi, Texas. And there is a subscription label on the back in the name of Jno. W. Green, of 1612 Third Street (city not stated) read more
