This auction is for a First Edition, early state copy of: A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain. Published by Charles L. Webster & Co., NY, 1889. Small ornamental "s" pg 59 between words The and King; broken type on pg 72; marbled edges; NO rare half-title pg.; 2 pages of ads in rear; adhesive stamp rear endpaper to identify subscription agent. Rare binding. Hinges starting to crack; cracked signatures; ex-library marks. Geometric endpapers, some holes front free endpaper. Ex-library (purchased part of old library collection years ago). On the very top of the spine, but not easy to see in the photo, there is a piece missing about a third by a quarter of an inch. The binding is not tight; there are signatures that are cracking. None of them are detached. Hinges in front and back are cracked (see photos). All pages appear to be present. The rear geometric endpapers are present. There is some minor foxing to a few of the outer pages. Photo of the ad and blank page shows the worst area in the book. Library marks are on 3 pages.
